Hand Animation Done

July 12, 2014: Today we finished most of the frames for the main character's hand animation (for when he is walking). Not sure how many more we need. Probably need to make different kind of hand poses too, depending on if he going to be holding something, or making hand guestures. Could do like a "come hither" hand.

The feet need a bit of work still. So far we only have him able to walk down left and down right. Actually, we need to draw the torso at different angles too. Er... make that everything. Not just torso.

We are doing him in Inkscape because Inkscape is super flexible and easy to use (once you get the hang of it). We are doing him nude as well, so that we can add different clothing later, and not have him look weird. It will kind of be like putting clothes on a paper doll.

Once we have all of the different angles and poses for the main character, we're hoping we can use it as a prototype for the other bodies in the game. Obviously we would have to change the proportions for the different body types. It's kind of neat actually, having him in pieces right now. We can pose him and make Monty Python-ish animations. :P

Anyway, here's what the hand looks like so far:

To test the animation, we've been using Pencil 2D, which for the most part, is useful. It seems to have some pretty cool features, and it's free! It's a program for 2D animation, and you can import frames that are pre-made, or you can draw straight in the program I believe. However, we need to play with it a bit more. Some of it is a little but unintuitive. For example, we wanted to post an animated gif of the hand, but it's either not something that can be done in Pencil 2D, or we just don't know how to do it yet. It seems like that is something you should be able to with an animation program... Research will be required. Just not tonight. :P Do know, though, that *if* we were able to show you the hand in action, you would be like, "ooooh~ HAND!" :D

Next on the list is finish the feet! The hard part will actually be doing the shoes, or boots, or other footwear.

Once we complete more, we will post another update. :) So keep checking back for more.

Have a nice weekend!

Getting Up to Speed

Hello! This is pewpew games inc., and here is what we've been up to over the last year.

October 19, 2013: We made an app in Unity called BabyC. It is an interactive game for babies where they can touch images on the screen and hear sounds associated with the picture. This was inspired by our daughter who was only 3 months old at the time, but obsessed with touch screens. So we put it together, and released it for Android devices in the Google Play Store for other parents with tech-savvy babies. You can check it out for free here

October 26, 2013: A project was started in Blender called Pink Tank. It was going to be a girly tank shooter game. We didn't get much further than the tank itself before the idea was kind of discarded. We may revisit this concept later. :)

July 01, 2014: Another game was released to the Google Play Store called break 'em down! This brick-breaker game was also done in Unity. It wasn't originally intended to be released to the public, as it was mostly a practice project that we started before working on BabyC. In fact, it even got moved to the back-burner for some time, but as we put more time and effort into it, and saw it actually come together, we decided it was time to release it. This is also free, super fun, and can be found here!

July 01, 2014: On the same day as releasing break 'em down, we also submitted a game to Steam Greenlight, where it is currently making quite a bit of progress. That game is called Greyfox, and it was all done in RPG Maker VX Ace. Actually, we had to include some special scripts to make it run the way we wanted it to, and also there is a fair amount of original tiles and artwork done either by us, or by people on the RPG Maker communities online. The Greenlight page, and the description for Greyfox, can be found here.
July 03, 2014: Almost immediately after submitting Greyfox, we began working on ideas for the next game we would make. We don't have a title or even much of a storyline yet, but we are going to make a point-and-click space adventure game, possibly using Visionaire Studio. Which brings us to the point of starting this blog in the first place.

We never documented our progress on any of the other games, and now we don't have anything to look back on. So for the next game, we will be posting updates, progress, teasers, rants, whatever! :D

Hopefully we can get some gamers involved, as feedback is soooo important!

Thanks for reading, and we hope you look forward to reading our blogs about our newest game, which is still in the super early stages of development.

Take care!
